The first instalment of ‘John Turrell’s The Kingmaker Remixed’ boasted the likes of Kraak & Smaak and Basement Freaks giving their spin on the heart-wrenching originals. And after the success across online and radio it was quickly decided there needed to be ‘The Kingmaker Remixed Pt. 2’.

Fellow Jalapeno Records stalwart - Soopasoul is a heavyweight of the instrumental funk scene but here he turns his hand to create a Hip hop influenced stripped-down take on Turrell’s track ‘Chasing Shadows’. Adding a little bit of funk guitar and some vocal samples slapped in between John’s storytelling lyrics the additions are subtle but effective in this high calibre remix.

Smoove, the other half of Smoove & Turrell produces a brilliantly pumped up disco version of ‘Stella Maris’. Throwing flowing chords and bass straight from the synthesizer into the mix, he manages to create an air of brightness, whilst also transforming the song into a dance floor destroyer.

Who doesn’t like a Reggae mix? Wrongtom handsomely fits the track ‘Wrongtime’ (no relation) into a different structure that is so seamless that you’d think John wrote the lyrics to it. The Tru Thoughts alumnus from south London, transforms the track into an uplifting reggae romp to get you skanking.
